Yes, he was driving a very fine Red Bull drawn by the pencil of design guru Adrian Newey, but never could it have been directed more adroitly than by the gold-booted Verstappen.
Fantails of spray blinding, debris strewn hither and thither, an advertising hoarding stuck to Pierre Gasly's car, a tractor ludicrously and dangerously on track, Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz retired,
a safety car deployed, a red flag waved and a two-hour delay triggered, yet Verstappen's daringly late braking move earned
him an open road to a slice of history.
He was made to bide his time as the race was suspended.
He did so calmly. Others on the eve of championship successes
pretend to be as cool as Magnums but really are inferno-hot with concern. He didn't seem like that and the comfort blanket of having four races remaining after
Sunday's helped his psyche, no doubt.

There are a few theories about the quality of Verstappen's driving this year.

He is not a philosopher or a campaigner and never will be.
He is an unvarnished practitioner of what he does best — racing.
Marko believes that if things goes his way then Verstappen can eclipse Schumacher's
records
It has served him well — 12 wins this season, one short of Schumacher
and Vettel's heights and six times the strike
rate of his perfect-fit team-mate Perez, who drove so attackingly brilliantly on Sundat,
as he did defensively a year ago in the controversy that
was Abu Dhabi and Hamilton's agonising defeat.

delivering their shopping.
The alleged theft was caught on CCTV from inside the porch of the family home of

of shopping and even says to a member of the family,
'take care, see you soon', as he leaves.

The video starts with the parcel being delivered by an the Amazon delivery man and the parcel is clearly
shown propped against the step of the home's front door inside the porch.
The Asda driver then arrives and immediately picks up the package and places
it outside the front door.
He carries one crate of shopping in before returning with the parcel to his van.

The man then returns once more deliver the rest of the
shopping and rings the doorbell to speak to a family member.
He greets them with a cheery 'you all right there mate?'
A member of Ms Adedji's family replies, 'how you doing,' and the driver
says, 'I'm all good sir'.
He carries one crate of shopping in before returning with the parcel to his van. The man then returns once more
deliver the rest of the shopping and rings the doorbell to speak to a family member
As he leaves, he says, 'thank you, take care, see you soon'.
Barclays worker Ms Adedji, who lives with her mother, father and
two brothers, believed the 'stolen' package was a £60 wallet which her brother had ordered.
She told that the alleged theft was 'very annoying' and although the parcel did not contain anything expensive, 'it's just the principle'.
Ms Adedji went on to claim that Asda had initially promised someone would respond to her report of the theft within 24 hours
but that no one had.
She added that she was unhappy with the response when it did come.
'The thing that annoyed me most is the fact that when we emailed Asda,
they came back to me and said 'we're sorry
to hear that you had advised that the driver allegedly stole your parcel,' and
then asked me what was in the parcel and whether it was big or small.
Ms Adedji posted the video on Instagram. She wrote above one still from the video,
'I feel like crimewatch'. She later added: 'you will now see your
delivery guy STEAl my parcel and put it in his van'
'So at this point my mum - who ordered the Asda delivery in the first place
- was fuming because number one, you're now saying that I'm lying essentially because of the use of 'allegedly.'
'And then secondly you're asking about the package - because it doesn't matter
if it was £2 eyelashes, you should not come in and steal someone's package.'
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating an allegation of theft at the property on Thursday, September
26.
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
An Asda spokesperson said: 'We have been made
aware of an incident involving one of our grocery home shopping delivery
drivers.
'We do not tolerate theft of any kind and whilst we would not
comment on individual colleagues, we take this
incredibly seriously and will fully support the police with their investigations.
'We are in contact with Ms Adedeji so that
we can discuss this with her directly in order to apologise and help our
investigations.'
